An increase in black hole activity in galaxies with kinematically misaligned gas

چکیده
External accretion events such as a galaxy merger or the of gas from immediate environment can create large misalignment between and stellar kinematics. Numerical simulations have suggested that misaligned structures may promote inflow to nucleus by central supermassive black hole. We show for first time galaxies with strong ionized kinematic angles higher observed fraction active holes than aligned rotation stars. The increase in hole activity suggests process formation and/or presence are connected fuelling holes. Analysis sample shows is greater which kinematics misaligned. This observation misalignment, driven external accretion, fuels

Black hole masses in active galaxies
This contribution reviews two topics of current interest in the study of black hole demographics in active galaxies: Can the stellar velocity dispersions of quasar host galaxies be measured? And can we constrain the black hole mass function below 10 M ?
متن کاملThe Shape of an Accretion Disc in a Misaligned Black Hole Binary
We model the overall shape of an accretion disc in a semi-detached binary system in which mass is transfered on to a spinning black hole the spin axis of which is misaligned with the orbital rotation axis. We assume the disc is in a steady state. Its outer regions are subject to differential precession caused by tidal torques of the companion star. These tend to align the outer parts of the dis...
متن کاملThe Effect of Self-gravity of Gas on Gas Fueling in Barred Galaxies with a Supermassive Black Hole
In our previous paper, we have shown that a gas disk in the nuclear region of a barred galaxy which contains a central supermassive black hole (SMBH) rapidly evolves into a nuclear gas ring by the effect of an additional inner Lindblad resonance caused by the SMBH. In this paper, we investigate the fate of the gas ring, involving self-gravity of gas, using two-dimensional hydrodynamical simulat...
متن کاملCircumnuclear Gas in Seyfert 1 Galaxies: Morphology, Kinematics, and Direct Measurement of Black Hole Masses
The two-dimensional distribution and kinematics of the molecular, ionized, and highly ionized gas in the nuclear regions of Seyfert 1 galaxies have been measured using high spatial resolution (∼0.09) near-infrared spectroscopy from NIRSPEC with adaptive optics on the Keck telescope. Molecular hydrogen, H2, is detected in all nine Seyfert 1 galaxies and, in the majority of galaxies, has a spatia...
متن کاملDistribution of black hole binaries around galaxies
Compact object mergers are one of the favorite models of GRBs. It has been noted that in opposition to the collapsars, compact object mergers do not necessarily take place in the host galaxies, and may travel outside of them. With the discovery of afterglows and identification of host galaxies one can measure the distribution of GRBs with respect to their host galaxies. This distribution has be...
